Stephen F. Austin defensive end BJ Thompson made a strong impression at the NFL Combine, running a 4.58-second 40-yard dash and showing off his athleticism in drills. The 6-foot-5, 246-pound Thompson logged playing time in 11 games as a senior in 2022, recording 560 snaps for the Lumberjacks. He finished the season with 26 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. Thompson's performance at the Combine boosted his draft stock, and he is now considered a potential Day 2 pick. He is projected to go in the third or fourth round, and the Kansas City Chiefs selected him with the 166th overall pick in the fifth round. Thompson has great length and plenty of room for growth on his frame. He is a raw talent with a high ceiling, and he could develop into a starting-caliber defensive end in the NFL.
